MLB news: World Series wrap up
The St. Louis River Walkers completed an impressive regular season where they went 106-56, with a strong roll through the postseason where they defeated the Chicago G-Men in four games in the NL Championship Series and needed six games to defeat the Dayton Fighter Pilots in the World Series.
Andrew Benintendi won World Series MVP honors. After going 2 for 7 in the opening two games, although he did score four runs, Benintendi went 9-for-20 over the final four games. Included in that was a two-run homer in the seventh inning of Game 6, which put the Walkers ahead 5-0.
Alex Bregman also had a strong series, batting .304 with a homer and six RBIs. Rhy Hoskins hit .353 with five RBIs. Brock Holt hit .263 with six RBIs.
On the mound, Aaron Nola won Games 2 and 6, allowing just one run over 14 innings. He struck out 10 and walked fo and allowed seven hits.
For Dayton, Buster Posey was big with the bat, hitting .400 with a homer and six RBIs.
