MBL news: World Series Game 2 -- St. Louis 9, Dayton 1
St. Louis starting Aaron Nola allowed a lead-off homer to Dayton's Andrelton Simmons to open the game, but followed that up with seven shutout innings to help the River Walkers to an 9-1 win and a 2-0 lead in the Midwest Baseball League World Series.
The Walkers' wasted little time take control of the game after falling behind for the second consecutive game.
They scored four runs in the bottom of the first off Dayton starter Charlie Morton. Alex Bregman drove in the first run when he was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
A Brock Holt sacrifice fly plated the second run. A two-out double from Tucker Barnhart made it 4-0.
St. Louis added three more runs in the second to break it open.Rhys Hoskins had an RBI double. Michael Conforto plated two with his fourth homer of the postseason.
Nola allowed one run on four hits in his seven innings. He struck out five and walked one.
