MBL news: World Series Game 1 -- St. Louis 7, Dayton 5

The Dayton Fighter Pilots battered St. Louis starting pitcher Jacob deGrom for four early runs, but could not hang on as the River Walkers rallied for a 7-5 win in Game 1 of the Midwest Baseball League World Series.
Buster Posey hit a three-run homer off deGrom in the first inning and James McCann launched a solo shot to open the second for Dayton.
But by the bottom of the third, that lead was gone and the Walkers led 6-4.
Adeiny Hechavarria drove in a pair of runs with a two-out single off Pilots starting pitcher Yu Darvish in the second inning.

Rhys Hoskins drove in the first run of the third with a double. Brock Holt puts St. Louis in front with a two-run single.
Holt scored when Tucker Barnhart followed with a triple, with Darvish sustaining all of the damage.
A solo homer from Michael Conforto off Greg Holland in the fifth made it 7-4.
Dayton cut it the deficit to two runs in the sixth, on an RBI double by Steven Souza off deGrom.
deGrom would last 5.2 innings, allowing all five Dayton runs.
Three relievers kept the Pilots quiet the rest of the way to seal the win.
