Is it always the same date? I'm wondering if that could be the game attempting to autosave at a particular time, and not being allowed to write to the save folder. If it is always happening on or around the same date, try a start with the "start on July 1" box checked, and see if it crashes after a month, before any games get played. That would confirm it's a problem writing the save, and we can resolve it from there.
