Fisk led off the bottom of the eighth with a home run. Cooper then made it back-to-back homers. Pete Brober then replaced Kobel on the mound.

With a runner on first and two out in the top of the ninth, Fred Beene replaced Siebert on the mound for the Red Sox. He allowed one hit but nothing more.
