Team Breakdown

The Norfolk Starters should be the best part of the team. All but Karl Armstrong struggled this spring. The bullpen was pretty solid this spring, but I think they performed better than their ratings. I am going to start the season with 13 pitchers on staff, for 2 reasons. 1) I have no other hitters in the minors that are worth carrying, and 2) I brought up Lucio to have a LH in the bullpen. If anyone of the middle relievers struggle you will see the roster move.

Starting Pitchers
Don Sweetapple (R)* - 15 (stuff)/12(movement)/17(control) 20 Stam
Karl Armstrong (R) - 12/13/14 16 Stam
Carlos Mateo (R) - 13/12/16 9 Stam
Tsuneo Sato (R) - 10/13/11 15 Stam
Danny Rigsby (R) - 10/12/11 15 Stam

*opening day starter

Bullpen:
Middle Relief
Dalton Whitaker (R) - 20/8/11
James Gillespie (R) - 12/13/7
Andrew Donnelly (R) - 12/7/10
Lucio Urruticodez (L) - 8/8/9
Andres Alacron (R) - 10/8/7

Setup:
Theodore Petherick (R) - 20/8/17
Alberto Hernandez (R) - 13/14/16

Closer:
Jack Clow (R) - 20/14/13

The Offense... We lost Tim Garner during spring training, and as soon as he his healthy he will see himself inserted back into the lineup as our starting 2b. Till that time we will use Antonio Hernandez, little hit, great glove to fill the void.

Catching:
Julio Romero (R) - 10(contact)/10(Gap)/13(HR)/15(Eye)/10(avoid K
Jacob Chaney (L) - 9/9/8/8/11
- from previous experience I realize how important a good glove behind the plate is, so the first change I get I will be looking to upgrade here. Chaney is a 12, and Romero is a 9. Hopefully the pitching staff will be able to keep the runners close.

Infielders:
IF/OF Gilberto Ramos (R) 10/10/8/10/10/8
SS/2B Antonio Hernandez (R) 8/7/7/8/7
3B/2B Ralph Pierce (R) 10/7/8/9/9
SS Justin Martin (R) 10/10/5/9/11
SS/3B Mauro Candelaria (R) 14/12/6/11/20
2B Tim Garner* (R) 11/9/5/9/12
* out 1-2 more weeks on 15 day DL
- The infield is average hitters, but a pretty good defenders. I am hoping a solid SS/2B combo will help us out in the end. Hernandez is rated 20's all across the board, so he will be seeing a lot of playing because of that.

Outfield:
DH/LF Brian Cline (R) 8/11/16/12/7
OF Luis Marquez (L) 7/9/7/10/8
LF/CF Pablo Freitas (R) 12/9/16/12/7
OF Pat Shelton (R) 8/8/8/11/9
RF Jose Rodriquez (L) 9/9/13/11/9
- The outfield is where our speed is, with all but Cline rated 14+ speed and 17+ Steals. The defense should be good with the starts at 15+ at all positions. Cline will be the primary DH since he doesn't offer much, but an average LF.

Line-up:
CF Pat Shelton
SS Mauro Candelaria
LF Pablo Freitas
DH Brian Cline
C Julio Romero
1B Justin Martin
3B Ralph Pierce
RF Luis Marquez
2B Antonio Hernadez

Up next Opening Day/Week:
3 vs Annapolis Admirals
4 @ Richmond Cardinals

Play ball!
