NLCS Game 4: St. Louis 5, Chicago 4, 10 innings
Rhys Hoskins connected for a two-out RBI single off Tyler Healy in the top of the 10th inning to drive in Jedd Gyorko in what proved to be the game-winning run, as the St. Louis River Walkers defeated the Chicago G-Men 5-4 to win the National League Championship Series in four games.
Gyorko, who had a two-run double in a series-opening win and a solo homer in a Game 2 victory, opened the inning with a double off Healy.
A two-run homer from Josh Donaldson off Keone Kela in the bottom of the eighth inning had tied it 4-4.
St. Louis reliever Sean Doolittle retired Chicago in order in the ninth inning. Then, with the lead, he recorded two more outs in the 10th before allowing a single to George Springer.
Jonathon Holder then stepped in and got Donaldson to end it, and send the River Walkers onto the World Series.
St. Louis starting pitcher Alex Cobb gave up single runs in the first and third innings, but managed to pitch into the sixth to help lessen the load on a bullpen that carried the River Walkers through the series.
