Florida Panthers (23-11-3) at Montreal Canadiens (20-15-2)

Montreal is home to face the Florida Panthers. The Panthers have beaten the Habs twice including a 7-4 the last time the two teams met. Montreal has been pretty good at both ends of the rink this season, we are 1st in shots against with only 26 per game and 6th for shots taken at 33 per game. The question is why are we 23rd for GAA at 2.81? LD Marc-Andre Berube is still not healthy while we are still waiting for medical clearance for LW Lorenzo Bocci.

Florida is currently 2nd in the Eastern Conference with 49 points, 4 behind the 1st place Hurricanes. Florida is in the top 2 in the NHL for goals per game (3.16), goals against per game (2.00) shots per game (34) and shots against per game (26). The are going to be formidable.

Tuin was the Panthers 102nd overall pick in the 1981 NHL Entry Draft.

LW Mike Tate leads the Panthers in assists with 23 and 2nd in points with 30. The 19 year old is a strong defender who has decent stamina and strength. In his 2nd season in the NHL, he has 25 goals with 55 assists and 80 points with 88 PIMs and a +33 rating in 119 NHL games, all with the Panthers. Tate was drafted 72nd overall by the Panthers in the 1981 NHL Entry Draft.

RD Zak Swain is 3rd on the team with 29 points including 10 goals. The 39 year old is a strong playmaker with decent on ice vision. In his 3rd season with the Panthers he has 33 goals, with 88 assists and 121 points with 66 PIMs and a +20 rating.

Florida will start G Rob Wolf who has 19 wins in 28 starts and a .923 save %. Montreal starts G Mike Blackshear, he has 17 wins in 31 starts with a .889 save %.

Florida gets a SH goal at 15:12 of the 1st period as C Luke Tuin gets his 16th of the year and a 1-0 Florida lead. The period ends with the Panthers and Canadiens each with 11 shots. Florida is 0 for 1 on the PP while Montreal is 0 for 2.

There is no scoring in the 2nd and the score remains 1-0 for the Panthers. The shots in the period were 9 to 6 for Florida and both teams are now 0 for 4 on the PP.

Montreal scores on the PP at 6:08 of the 3rd to tie the score 1-1. RD Yegor Berestnev gets his 6th of the year. The remainder of the period is scoreless. The shots favoured Montreal 14 to 10 in the 3rd. Florida is 0 for 5 on the PP, Montreal is now 1 for 7.
