Tonight is the final game of the four game series in Texas in the battle for last place between the Rangers and the California Angels. This is the only game in the American League on the schedule today.

In the top of the second, Stephenson put the Rangers on the board with an RBI single.

In the bottom of the second, the Rangers loaded the bases with one out. Bosman popped to second for the second out. Maddox came through with a clutch two run single to put the Rangers in the lead.

In the top of the third, Pinson delivered an RBI single to tie the game.

After three: California 2 Texas 2.

Nothing of note happened in the middle innings.

After six: California 2 Texas 2.

Horacio Pina took the mound for the Rangers in the top of the eighth inning.

In the bottom of the eighth, the Rangers had a runner on first and one out and Lloyd Allen took the mound for the Angels. Maddox would score the go-ahead run on a two out wild pitch. Ford added a run-scoring single.

With a runner on first and one out in the top of the ninth, Paul Lindblad took the mound for the Rangers. Alomar tied the game with a 382 foot bomb.

After nine: California 4 Texas 4.

Jim Panther took the mound for the Rangers in the top of the tenth.

Eddie Fisher took the mound for the Angels in the bottom of the tenth. Harrah drew a walk but was caught stealing second to end the inning.

In the top of the twelfth, a leadoff double prompted a pitching change and Mike Paul took the mound for the Rangers. Rain began to fall. Jim Mason committed an error on a Stephenson grounder to second and Cardenas scored the go-ahead run.

Mel D Queen took the mound for the Angels in the bottom of the twelfth. Maddox tied the game with an RBI single. Play was then stopped for a 19 minute rain delay. With runners at first and second and two out, Nelson singled to bring Mason home with the winning run.

The Angels had 11 hits and the Rangers committed 3 errors but Texas still got the win.

Final score: Texas 6 California 5 12 innings.
