08/31/1973 - Giants Roll to 8-1 Win Over Braves

San Francisco Giants starter Jim Willoughby pitched a strong game against the Atlanta Braves at Candlestick Park, leading the Giants to a 8-1 win. Willoughby went 5.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 5. His record improves to 10-8. The Giants now own a record of 60-72.

Atlanta had a runner on 1st in the top of the eighth. With no one out, Johnny Oates came to bat, hoping to do some damage. Instead, he hit into a double play. The score remained 3-1, San Francisco. The Braves saw their comeback bid fail.

Kingman contributed to the onslaught with another homer off RHP Ron Reed, who seems to be one of his favorite pitchers.
