08/09/1973 - Giants Bang Out 10-3 Win Versus Montreal

The San Francisco Giants relied on the hitting of shortstop Chris Speier to stop the Montreal Expos, 10-3. For the game, Speier went 3-3 with a double, 2 singles, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. The Giants now have a record of 51-62 with the win over Montreal.

Bobby Bonds, who is tied for 5th in the NL in RBI with 71, aided the San Francisco cause with a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the second. For the game, the right fielder was 1 for 3 with 2 walks.

"The name of the game is scoring runs," Bonds said. "We did a good job of that today."

Kingman struck early again in this one, with a 2-run blast off Expos starter LHP Balor Moore.
