September 6th – The Rangers successfully claimed RHRP Victor R. Diaz(25, 2/3* HS, 2/3.5*) from the White Sox organization today. The 25-year old is currently injured with a strained shoulder and posted a 6.68ERA so far in 2019, but looking at Alec Hansen, the Rangers had some luck with White Sox castoffs.

September 14th – Danny Jansen is back off the DL and back in the lineup for the last 13 games... meaningless as we were eliminated from playoff contention yesterday.

October 2nd – And on the last day of the regular season, things took a turn for the worse for Alec Hansen... as he tore his flexor tendon(elbow) and will be out for 8-9 months... He went 5-5 4.66 54K in 15 starts for his new team...

11-14 month, kinda more what I expected from this young team. Losing Alec Hansen in the last game of the season, and basically for next season as well... is a blow to us. We knew when we traded for him that he is a bit injury prone, but in our situation, we had to take the chance... well, with Jurado, Alzolay, Thompson, Abreu and similar guys like Alexy, Lange, Szapucki and Milto in AAA, we should have a lot of options next year... how good they will be and if they develop the way we want... we will see.

Hitting wise, Bobby Bradley collected 7HR in September... with a .212 batting average... there is still some room for growth here. Same for Royce Lewis who hit .242/.317/.347 with an AL-leading 48 stolen bases, good for 2.0WAR. Remember, he will make $8.8M next year thanks to the 10-year contract kicking in.

Joey Gallo whiffed on the AL home run title by five, but still upped his batting average compared to 2018 by .023, and his OPS by .028. With him, Lewis and Nomar Mazara locked up, things are fine here. As for our Rookie of the Year candidate Justin Williams, we will try to lure him into a long-term arbitration buyout contract this offseason... as he hit .301-20-69 .875OPS in 123 games.

Our bullpen has been up and down, but we most likely won't spend any money on relievers this offseason, and instead keep the group we have around, minus Aaron Loup most likely, and try to haul a young, talented reliever in via trade...

As for the prospects, see next post...
