Well, since I signed him to a 10y/$88.1M extension kicking in for next season anyway, I did not see the need for that. And yes, I know that I'm wasting money in the first years, but I may be saving A LOT in the later years. Also, I personally feel that a player like him tends to develop faster at the MLB level, but that is only a gut feeling.
As for the other guys, yeah, I could wait out a month before bringing up Williams or Thompson, but I'm honestly a bit too lazy for that. If they look good, I will buy out their arb years+ 2-3 with a 6-8 year contract anyways because that is kinda the way I operate.
