Game 22 @ VAN Nov 19th

VAN - As the team arrives for the third game of a 5 game road trip, Bonehead and his staff have been conferring over the data sheets on the Canucks during the flight. Goaltender Tim Thomas asked and was told he was the starter tonight and Scott Gomez approached Coach Ramsay about his playing time, Gomez was told he was still scratched but to keep his head up, as a veteran, he knows he is only one injury from being back in the lineup.

The team is advised by Coach Pauwelyn that the top line of LW Sedin/C Sedin/ RW Burrows plays the most ice time and the second line and third lines are switched up per the Canucks coaches whim. Their defense is solid and so far has no player substitutions - so keep leaning on the defensemen! Tire them out!

Again an early first period Panthers goal is the only score so far. RW Versteeg made the most of the cycling by his linemates and he was parked in the slot for the one timer past G Luongo. Shots are nearly equal 13 - 14 and the Panthers are really behind in FOW for a change. Bonehead makes no changes and jsut tells the team to keep forchecking and pressing the defense so they make mistakes.

The second period is more of the same, although the shots lead swings in the Panthers favor 23 -22 and Captain Campbell tallies an ES marker early in the second for a 2 - 0 lead.

The third period is the comeback period as the Canucks defense, which looked a little winded earlier in the game suddenly stepped up and the second Canucks defensive pairing of Hamhuis and Tanev scored just over three minutes apart to tie it up and send it to OT. The game has gotten noticeably chippier with several hard checks and a couple of fights in regulation, but in OT Daniel Sedin violently reacted to a hipcheck that he felt was a low bridge that wasn't called and he gives a two hander to the back of D Gudbranson's head and that of course is seen by the men in stripes and called - a five minute major penalty just :48 seconds into the OT. Panthers will be playing a 4 on 3 PP for the remainder of the OT! But they cant get it done! Panthers got off 5 shots over the last four minutes and twelve seconds but couldn't bury the biscuit in the basket...

Of course Daniel Sedin is the only goal scorer in the entire shootout and the Panthers will leave Vancouver with only one point and very frustrated.
