Pre-Game
The trade with the Coyotes has gone through. Adam Hall was sent to Arizona for 21 year old Martinook, a prospect in the truest sense of the word but someone who with the right coaching could slide into a 4th line role. Still needs to work on his defensive game, which he will do at the AHL level. Coincidentally, the Phantoms will open against their new addition's old squad the Pirates on the 14th. As for Hall, he will get his shot at his old club in a couple weeks when the Coyotes come to Philly.
The Rangers have suffered a tough loss as Henrik Lundqvist will be out the better part of a month with a torn hamstring. The Rangers will start Cam Talbot in his stead, a significant drop in talent. The King will come back right around the time the Flyers are slated to face off with their rivals in The Big Apple.
Chris VandeVelde suffered a minor thumb injury and will be listed as an injury as opposed to healthy scratch before tonight's game. He is day to day and will be ready to play next game if need be.
Steve Mason is set to start tonight in Montreal as he looks for redemption following his 4 goal outing last game. Ray Emery will get his feet wet tomorrow as the Flyers head south to play against the Canes.
