Montreal split its 6 games this week to fall 6 games behind the surprising Brooklyn Kings. The Saints are currently 7th in the CA in runs scored and 7th in the CA in runs allowed. The adjusted goal -- get out (and stay out) of the 2nd division.

Paul Tattersall continues to show off his power stroke; his 7 home runs leads all of the FABL. His next home run will be the 225th of his career. He as an outside chance of getting to 250 this season. After a strong start to the season, Sam Sanderson has been in a dreadful slump. He hit a home run in the April 28th game against New York. Since then he is 0-19 with 10 strike outs. The question -- is it just a slump or has Father Time caught up with him?

There is continued concern about pitching, as there is a large drop off in the back end of the rotation after Plummer and Robinson.George Scott was reassigned to Minneapolis after yesterday's game. Rule V draftee Sam Young will take his rotation turn this week. John Newton was called up from Minneapolis to take the roster spot. Newton was 3-3 with a 2.93 ERA for the Lumberjacks.

Minor League News and Notes

The big story is the class A Evansville Hawks. They've run their unbeaten streak to 21 games and now have a record of 26-4, leading the Heartland League by 5 games over the Lincoln Legislators.

The 2nd round draft pick by the Saints in last December's draft was a collegiate pitcher named Al Allen. Allen is famously the son of FABL legend Allan Allen. Double Al won a record 514 games in his career (and in his honor, the FABL will begin awarding the Allen Award to the top pitcher in each league after this season).

Needless to say, there has been a rather large spotlight on the junior Allen, really ever since he expressed a desire to play baseball. Thus far, he has handled that pressure extremely well. Pitching for Evansville, Allen is 4-0 with a 0.92 ERA and has 68 strike outs in 58.2 innings pitched.
