After splitting two games with Baltimore to begin the week, the Saints went on the road to Brooklyn and lost 3 games of a 4 game set. The 2-4 week gives Montreal an overall record of 4-8, good for 8th place in the Continental Association.
Outside of Sandman, Tattersall, and Sanderson, the bats have been decidedly average. Though Sal Ingalls has started to heat up as of late.
The pitching is dead last in the league. Except for the strikeout rate, which is 3rd in the league.
Minor League Notes
Minneapolis Lumberjacks (9-8, 5th (1.5 GB) in the Century League (AAA))
The story in Minneapolis has been the bat of Bob Clements (.388/.436/.653, 2 HR, 7 RBI, 9 SB), who is demonstrating why the Montreal scouts have such faith in him.
Nashville Chieftains (9-8, 2nd (2.5 GB) in the Dixie League (AA))
Montreal's top-ranked prospect Charlie Stedman (3-1, 1.54, 35 IP, 31 K) continues to pitch well.
Evansville Hawks (12-4, 2nd (2 GB) in the Heartland League (A))
Evansville is trying to keep pace with the Lincoln Legislators in the Heartland. Young Quebecois infielder Henri Veron (.310/.375/.549, 5, 14) was not on the list of Montreal's ranked prospects coming into the season, but he has been opening eyes.
Henri Veron
Mobile Monarchs (3-15, 8th (11 GB) in the Southeastern League (B))
The Monarchs are just having a dreadful season. Infielder Roy Garrison (.353/.405/.412, 0, 2) continues to be the sole bright spot.
