Walkers news: Sept. 16 -- St. Louis 5, Cedar Rapids 2

Alex Faedo took a shutout into the eighth inning and St. Louis took control early with a four-run bottom of the first inning as it downed Cedar Rapids 5-2 at Busch Stadium (1997).
Bo Bichette led off the bottom of the first with a single off Golden Grapplers starting pitcher Carlos Martinez.
Bichette moved to second when Carlos Vidal ended up reaching on a sacrifice bunt attempt.
Rhys Hoskins walked to load the bases.
Andrew Benintendi drove in Bichette with a sacrifice fly.
After a strike out, Jean Carmona launched a three-run homer, putting the River Walkers up 4-0.
St. Louis added another run in the fifth.
Bichette singled off Martinez and scored on a Hoskins single.
After seven shutout innings, Faedo ran into trouble in the eighth allowing back-to-back one-out solo homers to Domingo Santana and Jean Carlos Arias.
Tim Hill took over for Faedo and didn't suffer any other major damage.
The ninth belonged to Jake Brentz, who set the Golden Grapplers down in order for his 16th save.
For the game, Faedo worked 7.1 innings allowing the two runs on six hits. He struck out five and walked none.
