The rubber match between the Rangers and Angels happens today. Can Texas go 4-2 on this West Coast visit?

Some injury news to report around the majors. Minnesota placed 1B Harmon Killebrew on the DL with a torn labrum. He will miss 4-5 months. Also, Pittsburgh CF Al Oliver will miss 4-5 months with an elbow sprain and has been placed on the DL.

Looks like a barely advantage for Texas again.

The Angels start the game off with an error and the Rangers get bases loaded no outs in the top of the first. Frank Howard then drew a 5 pitch walk to bring home the first run of the game. One out later, Burroughs added an RBI single. Kubiak followed up with a two run double. The Rangers would again strand the bases loaded but they got four runs in also.

The Angels would get one back in the bottom of the first.

In the top of the second, Frank Howard drove in a run with a ground rule double and Biittner added a sac fly RBI.

After three: Texas 6 California 1.

Biittner led off the top of the fourth with a triple and Burroughs brought him home with a double.

After six: Texas 7 California 1.

The Angels got a run in the seventh to make the score 7-2.

But they would get no more.

Final score: Texas 7 California 2.
