I've been playing as the 1975-76 Cincinnati Stingers in the World Hockey Association...however, some of the names were sticking in my head as not adding up.

After going to Hockey Reference, I saw my memory wasn't playing tricks on me--all the players and teams for 1975-76 are actually for 1976-77.
