September 16 - Jim Stroughter (32-R) of Pittsburgh pitched a 1 hit shutout at home versus St. Louis. He walked 2 and struck out 9. It is his 2nd shutout of the season. He is now 16-11 with a 4.02 ERA in 32 starts. The Pirates won, 7 to 0. The hit was a leadoff double in the 2nd.
September 17 - Lee Redden (29-R) of San Francisco pitched a 1 hit shutout at Oakland. He did not walk a batter and struck out 6. He is now 8-4 with a 3.25 ERA in 14 starts (32 G and 1 SV). The Seals won, 3 to 0.
September 17 - 2B Rick Duckworth (26-R) of Baltimore hit a double and a home run, scored 2 runs and had 5 RBI at home versus Boston. The Orioles won, 8 to 7, in 11 innings.
September 18 - 1B Marcos Barron (33-R) of San Francisco had 3 hits including a Grand Slam and a walk and 5 RBI at home versus Seattle. Barron's Grand Slam came in the bottom of the 9th with 1 out, but did not end the game. The Seals needed to more runs after that, but they got them and won, 9 to 8. LF Randy Hobson (26-L) of Seattle hit a double and a home run, drew a walk, stole a base, scored 2 runs and had 5 RBI.
September 18 - 2B Pablo Mateo (24-R) of Chicago had 4 hits with 2 doubles and 4 RBI at Cincinnati. The Cubs won, 6 to 0.
September 20 - Jeff Groves (29-L) of Cleveland pitched a 3 hit shutout at Cincinnati. He walked 1 and struck out 9. It is his 2nd shutout of the season. He is now 16-9 with a 3.44 ERA in 34 starts. The Indians won, 6 to 0.
September 21 - Tom LaForce (30-R) of Milwaukee pitched a 3 hit shutout at home versus Kansas City. He walked 2 and struck out 4. It is his 2nd shutout of the season. He is now 8-14 with a 4.86 ERA. The Brewers win, 9 to 0. Dallas could not take advantage of this lapse by the Royals; they lost at Minnesota, 9 to 2.
September 21 - Dave Ibarra (29-R) of Los Angeles pitched a 4 hit shutout at San Francisco. He did not walk a batter and struck out 4. It is his 2nd shutout of the season. He is now 13-12 with a 3.03 ERA. The Angels won, 2 to 0.
September 22 - For the second day in a row, both leading contenders for the PCL East Division crown lose lopsided games. Kansas City is pummeled , 10 to 4, by Milwaukee and Dallas is humiliated, 9 to 1, by Minnesota. Dallas outhit Minnesota, 10 to 9 and only allowed 2 walks and made 1 error.
