Monday Morning Report

NL Player of the Week - Damien Carr, 3B, Detroit (28-L .307/.383/.538) Had 14 hits with 1 2B, 5 HR, 4 BB, 4 SO, 9 R and 10 RBI in 7 G (2nd PoW this year)
PCL Player of the Week - Paul Blaine, SS, Seattle (25-R .238/.284/.408) Had 11 hits with 1 2B, 1 3B, 4 HR, 1 BB, 3 SO, 1 SB, 1 CS, 7 R and 10 RBI in 5 G (3rd PoW this season. When he is not the PoW, he must go hitless.)

September 9 - 1B/3B Damien Carr (28-L) of Detroit had 5 hits with a 2 run home run in the top of the 13th inning at Pittsburgh. The Tigers won, 5 to 3, in 13 innings.
September 10 - Gary Henry (23-R) of Brooklyn pitched a 4 hit shutout at home versus New York. He walked 2 and struck out 3. It is his 3rd shutout of the season. He is now 9-5 with a 3.53 ERA in 14 starts (32 G). The Dodgers won, 2 to 0.
September 10 - 3B Damien Carr (28-L) of Detroit hit 3 home runs with a walk, scored 4 runs and had 5 RBI at Pittsburgh. The Tigers won, 13 to 1. He is the 1st National League player to hit 3 home runs in a game.
September 11 - CF Felix Zavala (31-L) of St. Louis went 5 for 5 with a home run and scored twice at home versus Pittsburgh, but the Cardinals lost, 4 to 3.
September 14 - CF Randy Schmitt (26-L) of Kansas City seemed to have nailed down the MVP award for this season with 3 doubles and a walk, a stolen base, a run scored and 6 RBI at home versus Denver. He was Rookie of the Year last season. The Royals won, 11 to 3.
