Walkers news: May 7 -- St. Louis 5, Dayton 1

Record: 13-16, 5th, 3.5 GB Springfield
Pinch-hitter Albert Almora connected for an RBI single off Dayton reliever Dovydas Neverauskas to snap a tie in the top of the eighth inning and help send St. Louis to a 5-1 win at Memorial Stadium (1986).
The River Walkers added three more runs in the ninth, Rhys Hoskins driving in two of them with a home run off Homer Robles.
St. Louis starting pitcher Kyle Hendricks didn't get a win, but pitched well allowing one run on six hits over six innings. He struck out four and walked one.
The victory went to Reyes Moronta who handled a scoreless seventh. It took three pitchers for the Walkers to get through the ninth -- Jake Diekman recorded one out and Grant Dayton wo -- and Omar Garcia handled an easy ninth with a four-run cushion.
Dayton starting pitcher Vince Velasquez didn't allow a run but had to depart because of pitch count after just 4.2 innings.
