After a leadoff walk in the top of the eighth, Stan Thomas took the mound for the Royals. The Rangers went on to load the bases with nobody out. Grieve hit an RBI single. Sharon went down on strike for the first out. It was the 10th K of the season for Thomas. Dent brought in a run with a groundout to third. Mangual then tied the game with a 2-run single.
