After an abysmal 2-8 homestand, the Rangers begin a 10 game road trip with four in Kansas City. The Royals have won 3 of their last 4. Kansas City is second in the league in runs scored and batting average and third in the league in stolen bases. Busby had a no-hitter through three.

In the bottom of the third, the Royals loaded the bases with two out. A two-run single by Rojas broke the scoreless tie.

After three: Kansas City 2 Texas 0.

Burroughs got a one-out single in the top of the fourth to break up the no-hitter.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Royals scored one on a Patek double.

In the top of the fifth, the Rangers loaded the bases with two out. But Ramirez struck out to retire the side.

In the bottom of the sixth, Patek got an RBI triple.

After six: Kansas City 4 Texas 0.

In the top of the seventh, a Billings double scored one.

In the bottom of the seventh, Mayberry hit a solo home run. With a runner at first and one out, Bill Castro replaced Rogers and got Rojas to ground into the 5-4-3 to end the inning.

After a leadoff walk in the top of the eighth, Stan Thomas took the mound for the Royals. The Rangers went on to load the bases with nobody out. Grieve hit an RBI single. Sharon went down on strike for the first out. It was the 10th K of the season for Thomas. Dent brought in a run with a groundout to third. Mangual then tied the game with a 2-run single. Monty Montgomery then took the mound for the Royals and he got pinch hitter Larry Biittner to groundout to retire the side.

Mike Garman took the mound for the Rangers in the bottom of the eighth. Schaal hit a one-out single for the Royals 10th hit of the game. But Scheinblum grounded into the inning ending 4-6-3.

Billings led off the top of the ninth with a home run. Grieve added a run-scoring single.

The Royals got a leadoff single in the bottom of the ninth but Otis grounded into the game-ending 4-6-3.

Final score: Texas 7 Kansas City 5.
