In the top of the second, the Royals loaded the bases with one out. Schaal was then hit by a pitch to bring in a run. Bradford struck out there were two away. Patek then struck out to retire the side. It was the 20th K for Halicki this season.

Mayberry hit an RBI double in the top of the third. Rojas then delivered an RBI single.
