Schedule Characteristics:
SCHEDULE type="ILN_BGY_G140_T8_C_" inter_league="0" balanced_games="1" games_per_team="140" start_month="4" start_day="23" start_day_of_week="6"
Teams play 140 games. Teams play each other 20 times.
Season starts on April 26 and ends on September 6. Weekday games start at 7:00. Weekend games start at 1:00. Double-headers on Sundays and holidays - Independence Day (7/5) and Labor Day (9/6) - start at noon and 3:00. Weekday day-night double-header games start at 1:00 and 7:00.
This is an unusual schedule because most teams make only two trips to each opponent, which means that most series are five games. No doubt that was due to wartime travel restrictions. The league also loaded up on Sunday double-headers at the expense of scheduling Saturday games, resulting in a lot of Saturdays that are off-days.
A two-day gap in the schedule - July 9-10 - probably means that the league's all-star game was played on one of those days.
