Walkers news: April 9 -- St. Louis 7, Quad City 5

Record: 2-1, 1st (Tied/w. Cedar Rapids and Springfield), 0.5 GA Quad City, Des Moines and Kansas City
Down 5-3, St. Louis took control with four runs in the top of the eighth inning highlighted by a three-run homer from Larry Ernesto, as the River Walkers downed Quad City 7-5 at Fenway Park (1970).
With the win, the River Walkers took two of three games in their season-opening series against the Thunder.
Bo Bichette greeted Q-C reliever Sarkis Ohanian with a double.
Ohanian followed it with a walk to Carlos Vidal.
It looked like QC may wiggle out of it when Fernando Tatis Jr. hit into a double play.
But Andrew Benintendi drove in the inning's first run with single.
A walk to Hoskins put two runners aboard.
Ernesto followed with this three-run shot, a 348 liner over the right-field wall.
Tied 1-1, the Thunder had gone up 3-1 in the fourth on a two-run homer from Carter Kieboom off Walkers starter Adonis Medina.
An inning later, Chase Davis got to Medina for another two-run shot, making it 5-2.
Tatis drew a one-out walk from Q-C starter Daniel Ritcheson in the sixth and later scored on a Rhys Hoskins fly out, a Benintendi double had placed him at third, to make it 5-3.
Medina worked the first six innings for St. Louis, allowing five runson seven hits.
Tim Hill, Jake Brentz and Edwin Diaz worked a scoreless inning apiece.
Hill (1-0) got the win. Diaz notched save No. 1.
