Walkers news: April 8 -- Quad City 8, St. Louis 4

Record: 1-1, 3rd (Tied/w. Quad City), 0.5 GB Springfield and Cedar Rapids
Quad City worked its way to a 7-0 lead and cruised from there in an 8-4 win over St. Louis at Fenway Park (1970).
Jacob Gonzalez reached on an error by River Walkers starter Argenis Batista and later scored on a Nick Gonzalez single in the third inning to open the scoring.
The Thunder would break it open with four runs in the fifth.
Jacob Gonzalez again got it started when reached base after a passed ball got by catcher Jared Thomas on strike three.
A wild pitch moved Gonzalez to second and again Nick Gonzalez drove him in, this time with a deep fly ball.
Batista exited after his second pitch of the inning eluded Thomas, leading to an intentional walk to Randolph Thorne.
He was replaced by Nick Lodolo, who saw the second pitch he threw travel 389 feet over the Green Monster in left for a three-run homer and a 5-0 lead.
It was 7-0 after six innings.
Nick Gonzalez collected his third RBI of the game with a single which scored Andrew Bethea.
Chase Davis also singled, his hit plating Jacob Gonzalez who scored his third run of the game.
St. Louis did bust loose for four runs in the top of the seventh.
Jared Thomas drove in two of the runs with a double.
But it would not score again.
Q-C's Miguel Gomez scored the game' s final run with a homer off Derek Gordon in the seventh.
Thunder starting pitcher Nick Wood handled the first 6.2 innings, allowing three runs on seven hits. He stuck out six and walked one.
Garrett Williams recorded the final out of the seventh.
Rafael Antonio Gomez worked a scoreless eighth.
Thad Ward started the ninth for Q-C, but issued two walks.
That brought John Daley to finish it up and he got out of it without allowing a run, earning himself a save.
