Walkers news: Major deal at Winter Meetings lands Tatis Jr.

The St. Louis River Walkers may have made the biggest trade of the Winter Meetings dealing starting third baseman Tanner Kohlhepp, top prospect Edgar Bustillos and a potential future closer in Adam Wenger to the Cleveland for third baseman Fernando Tatis Jr.
In Tatis, the Walkers land a 26-year-old who batted .265 with 29 homers and 71 RBIs in 156 games in his first full season with the Guitar Heroes. He got on base at a .323 clip and slugged at .455. He also is a Gold Glove caliber defender at third.
But the Walkers surrendered a nice haul
The 26-year-old Kohlhepp was the primary third baseman for the World Series champion Walkers, batting .261 with 17 homers and 63 RBIs in 152 games. He also is a plus defender at his position.
Their top prospect, the 20-year-old Bustillos also is bound for Cleveland.
Still progressing his way through the minors, he spent the bulk of 2025 at AA Springfield where he hit .261 with nine homers and 45 RBIs.
He is ranked the No. 8 overall position player prospect in the game.
The Heroes will also add 25-year-old right-handed reliever Adam Wenger.
Wenger was expected to serve as a righty out of the STL bullpen in 2025 but could eventually be a closer.
He got into 11 games with St. Louis in 2025, going 1-1 with a 4.15 ERA.
Most of the season, he was at AAA Memphis pitching in 37 games and going 2-4 with 25 saves and a 4.59 ERA.
