April 16 - Alan Merandi (28-R) of Seattle pitched a 5 hit shutout at home versus San Francisco. He walked 2 and struck out 4. Seattle won, 5 to 0.
April 17 - 3B Ed Sacco (32-R) of New York had 2 hits with a home run and 6 RBI at Boston. The Giants won, 9 to 4.
April 17 - RF Len White (26-L) of Chicago had 5 hits, stole a base, scored a run and had an RBI at Pittsburgh. The Cubs won, 4 to 3. White hit .361 with 17 HR and 58 RBI in 274 AB (1.020 OPS) last season; .360 with a .918 OPS so far this season.
April 20 - LF Tom Rosenthal (24-L) of Pittsburgh had 4 hits with a double and a triple, 2 walks, 4 runs scored and an RBI at Detroit. The Pirates won, 15 to 8. For the Tigers, RF Joe Wilson (25-L) hit 2 home runs, including a Grand Slam, drew 2 walks and had 6 RBI.

Random Fact of Week: The Portland Beavers, who were the most HR challenged hitting team in Baseball last season, lead the Major Leagues with 16 in 16 games. Last year we only out-homered the Houston Astros, but the Astrodome is so tough to hit home runs in, that we were certainly the most powerless offense in Baseball in Year I, with only 95 HR.
