I would say the matter of stadiums goes well beyond just capacity increases.

There's the whole question of different styles of stadiums, from the early all-wood constructions which had limited seating capacities as a result, to the concrete and steel era which ushered in the first large parks, then the upgrades to those parks which added upper sections and seats, the addition of lights to allow night games, the shift to the multipurpose, symmetric parks which added yet more seats, then the renaissance of asymmetric, old-style parks which actually reduced seating capacity compared to prior eras. Add to all that the option of retractable roofs for some parks, or enclosed domes, and whether to use grass or turf, or even switching from one to another, depending on circumstances.

There's a lot that could be done in this area. (Clem's Baseball is an invaluable source for ballpark information, highly recommended).
