The Diamondbacks went with the high potential hitting prospect with Dave Farver as the first pick. Farver was twice named the best hitting LF in the New York High School League, but never won any major awards.

Joe Ramage was once again selected by the Giants in the draft. He has already signed and been placed on the Giant's Advanced-A team.
