Yeah, I'll have to double check but I think he came into the league as an international amateur free agent with high potential. But everything must have aligned in his development and, like you said, with talent boosts to turn him into that monster. I'll probably never see anything like this again. 1055 home runs, 12 years with an OPS over 1.000, 16 years with a batting average over .300, 4125 hits, and 2855 RBI's. That 1961 season has to be among the greatest single season performances in the history of sports. And one thing that can't be overlooked is that he barely missed any time during his entire 22 year career. Just a crazy good career!
