Downie, the third largest city in Braeland is nestled in a picturesque valley situated along South Pacific Ocean, near the entrance to the breathtaking Pearl Sound. Despite its relative proximity to other major urban centers, it was actually one of the most isolated. Until the dramatic arrival of the railroads, road access over the forbidden terrain was limited with access primarily by ships. Since then, the population has exploded and industrial growth has increased exponentially, especially in the chemical and railroad sectors.
The Chiefs’ home field, Gibson Ballpark, is named after Josh Gibson, one of the greatest players to ever grace the field, Negro Leagues or otherwise.

“If the prognosticators are correct, the Chiefs’ first season will be a long one. Rated last in projected runs scored (629) and 6th in runs allowed/ERA (767/4.24); the Chiefs will be hard pressed to escape the basement in the Eastern League. While they have a few nice position players such as 3B Andy Johnson (78/78) and CF John Dugan (77/77), plus nice depth at 1B, specifically Roger Tyler (68/68) and Roman Ferreira (63/68), they just do not have the horses to make much noise. They do have a legitimate ace in RHP Frank Leadbetter (76/76) and 41-year old LHP Robert Renton (62/62) may prove to be a solid No. 2 man if he stays healthy. But after that there is a steep drop in talent. To make matters worse, the farm system ranks 14th out of 16 clubs with no impact player ready to help in the near future. Chiefs’ fans will have to exercise patience before they see the fortunes of the club improve."
