Joe Gordon, Bandits 3B. Got the award by weight of his power. He hit 29HR in his debut season. Stat-line of .234/.302/.460. WAR of 2.1, VORP of 19.5.
Allan Anglesey (.270/.336/.452, 12HR, 11 triples) of the Heat finished second, Metros OF Russell Wheeler (.245/.295/.443, 22HR) third.
Skipper of the Year
Gareth Torley, manager for the Metros. In his fourth season at the helm, he not only led the Metros to the NSWNZ title, but also to their first Championship. It was the first time he had skippered them to the postseason.
Hurler of the Year
Terence Pi. 21-4 across 32 starts. 0.98WHIP, only 8HR allowed in 199 innings. 164 ERA+, 6.4 WAR, 55.9 VORP. 2.90 FIP, 2.35 ERA.
Bert Blanksby (18-13, 2.59 ERA, 3.59 FIP) finished second, Simon Stobbie (18-5, 3.12 ERA, 3.62 FIP) of the Aces third.
Slugger of the Year
Axel Stennings. The Bandits catcher had a dominant year, hitting .306/.383/.534, with 30 HR, a OPS+ of 157, a WAR of 5.3, and a VORP of 57.7.
Teammate Byron Eissens (.251/.395/.481, 28HR, 116 walks) came second in the voting. Auckland's Kelvin Ackland (.313/.361/.472, 22HR, 6.0 WAR) came 3rd. At only 23, Ackland was already in his 3rd year in the majors, and destined for big things.
