The Habs leap into Ottawa for a return match with the Senators (19-30-15) at the Canadian Tire Center. Montreal won 5-4 the last time the teams met in Ottawa and lead the seasonal series 4-1-0. The Sens really mixed up their lines from 2 nights ago.

The line changes did not give the Sens a good start as the Canadiens scored off the opening faceoff just 12 seconds in as RW Joey Mariani gets his 20th of the year. Montreal goes up 2-0 at 6:36 when RW Joey Mariani snaps his 2nd of the night, 21st of the season. The period ends with Montreal leading 2-0 but the Sens are out shooting the Habs 7-5.

Montreal get a 3-0 lead on the PP when C Jeff Pilbeam deflects LW Emile Boudreau's shot for his 12th of the year at 0:25 of the 2nd. Montreal goes up 4-0 at 18:12 of the 2nd as RW Robert Cull deflects C Jeff Pilbeam's shot for his 11th of the season. The period ends with Montreal up 4-0 and now outshooting the Sens 23-15.

Montreal has to kill a long 5 on 3 early in the 3rd and successfully hold the Sens to just 1 shot. Montreal extends the lead to 5-0 at 6:57 when C Dean Casey's slap shot beats the Sens goalie for his 13th of the year. The Senators spoil G Bill Wolfenbarger's shut out attempt at 8:10 while on the PP, RD Paul Nelson gets his 5th of the season off a won faceoff by Sens. Montreal shuts down the Senators the rest of the way for a 5-1 win and out shoot them as well 30-20.
