The celebrations have begun. The streets are alive with people and the confetti is flying. The Pittsburgh Pirates have done it -- they won the 1908 World Series. The Pirates defeated the Boston Red Sox 5-1 at Exposition Park to take the title. Pittsburgh took the series 4-1 for their 3rd Baseball History championship.

After the game, the victorious Pirates manager told the secret to his team's great season and World Series triumph, "The harder you work, the luckier you get," he said. "As far as I'm concerned, I'm the luckiest guy in the world today."

The new champions finished first in the regular season with a 87-67 record in the National League.
