Final Regular Season Month and the Triple Crown
The Expedition are the surprise 'class of the league' as we work our way through the dog days of August and the post-season that will begin on September 4. Le Diamant seems safe for the playoffs but can't afford to let up as Cap Chevalier has stayed on their heels are season long. The Snake Eyes of Quebec had a horrible losing streak of 10 in a row that has reduced their chances greatly. Yet, still within striking distance for the wild card.
Xavier Rolland and his triple crown quest is the most compelling statistical category going on. Clearly, RBI's and Batting Average are out of everyone's else's sight. In the HR department, he trails Giverney's Pierre Maudit by one. Xavier is also tied with another Giverny slugger, Gerald Ferry, with 24 bombs.
Giverney, at one time in early July, led the France League with a losing record, but caught fire having won 17 of the last 22 contests. Nine years in the league and the Herons only have one wild card appearance in the post. Marseille has dominated that league having made the playoffs every year. But, the Soleis will not qualify this season with their current 49-65 record.
Julien Henri's batting numbers, especially power, are down from previous seasons. His pitching numbers have improved, or stayed the same depending on that stats that matter to you, from last season. A higher ERA, a lower WHIP, and a FIP that is slightly higher. Currently earning a 3.8 WAR.
