I have always related to catcher Bill Bergen, the worst hitter in "modern" baseball history. He must have been a great catcher to make up for his horrible offense.

His defense was thought to be above average by the metrics we have from back then, but your friend is still ranked as the worst player of all-time by WAR (a putrescent -13.5), which factors in defense, because of his horrendous bat. I'm stunned he was able to last 11 seasons, but I guess they didn't have as many players back then as they have now. Terrible, terrible baseball player, but I guess somebody has to be the worst of all-time.
