In the bottom of the first, Carew scored on a passed ball with two out.

In the top of the third, Epstein put the Rangers in the lead with a two-run single. The Rangers went on to load the bases with one out. Harrah brought two more home with a single.

In the bottom of the fourth, a bad throw by Harrah to start a potential 6-4-3 on a Terrell grounder allowed Darwin to score from third.

In the top of the fifth, Johnson hit a run-scoring triple. Harrah brought Johnson home with a single.

In the top of the sixth, Billings scored from first via the combination of a Burroughs single and a Hisle throwing error.

After six: Texas 8 Minnesota 2.

In the bottom of the seventh, Braun hit an RBI double. Hisle followed with an RBI single.

In the top of the eighth, with runners at first and second and two out, Eddie Bane took the mound for the Twins and got Burroughs to pop out to retire the side.

In the bottom of the eighth, Mike Paul took the mound for the Rangers with a runner on first and nobody out.

In the top of the ninth, the Rangers loaded the bases with one out. Nelson knocked two in with a single.

The Rangers got 16 hits in the contest as the two teams combined for 6 errors.

Final score: Texas 10 Minnesota 4.
