Today is the second game in the series in Minnesota between the Rangers and the Twins. The Rangers have won six of their last seven. The Twins have lost five of their last seven.

In the bottom of the first, the Twins loaded the bases with nobody out. Oliva flew to left for the first out. Darwin brought Carew home with a sacrifice fly.

In the bottom of the second, the Twins loaded the bases with two out. Hisle delivered the two-run single. A four-pitch walk reloaded the bases. Darwin popped to second to end the inning.

In the top of the third, Madlock hit a run-scoring double with two out. Burroughs followed with his own RBI double.

After three: Minnesota 3 Texas 2.

In the top of the fourth, Nelson picked up an infield single with two outs to bring Johnson home with the tying run. Sudakis then put the Rangers in the lead with a two-run homer.

In the bottom of the fourth, Darwin cut the Rangers lead to one with an RBI single.

In the top of the sixth, Maddox picked up one RBI with a two-out single but Hisle threw Harrah out at home as he tried to score from second on the play.

After six: Texas 6 Minnesota 4.

Joe Decker took the mound for the Twins in the top of the seventh.

In the top of the eighth, Sudakis increased the Rangers lead with a two-out RBI single. Maddox brought Sudakis home with a double.

Steve Foucault took the mound for the Rangers in the bottom of the eighth.

In the top of the ninth, with a runner on first and one out, Eddie Bane took the mound for the Twins.

After a leadoff single in the bottom of the ninth, Jim Merritt took the mound for the Rangers. Two walks loaded the bases with nobody out. Brye flew to center for the first out. Carew picked up an RBI single. Pinch hitter Harmon Killebrew went down on strikes for the second out. Hisle flew to left to end the game.

The two teams combined for 28 hits in the contest.

Final score: Texas 8 Minnesota 5.
