Teams play 126 games. Teams play each other 14 times.

The season starts on April 28 and ends on September 16. Weekday games start at 3:00. Saturday games start at 1:00. Double-headers start at noon and 3:00, except for home-and-home double-headers, which start at 10:00 and 3:00. On June 17, Portland plays at Lynn in the morning and Lawrence in the afternoon, while Springfield plays at Lynn in the afternoon. No Sunday games.

The published schedule (Sporting Life, 4/22/1916) has Lowell playing at Springfield on Sept. 19 - that should be Sept. 9. Worcester is shown playing at Lowell on Aug. 19-20 - that should be Aug. 9-10.

Even more unusual in the railroad era than a twelve-team format was the ten-team format. The Eastern League re-formed in 1916 (the original EL became the International League in 1912) and apparently everyone was invited to join. The league trimmed down to eight teams in 1917.
