5/1/1911 - High Expectations
Heading into the season our owner expects us to make it to the playoffs, while preseason predictions have us coming in second place, just behind the Pittsburgh Pirates.
In reality I feel like we are pretty close to being able to compete. We started off the season with a 11-7 record, with a decent offense, good pitching, and ok defense.
My biggest area of concern right now is second base. With Red Smyth manning second base and providing poor defense and not too great offense. I've got two options that will provide a potential upgrade. Youth with Bobby Richardson, or a veteran defender in Ozzie Virgil. For now I'll keep a close eye on the situation.
