Walkers news: April 8 -- St. Louis 3, Twin Cities 1

Record: 6-2, 1st, 0.5 GA Des Moines
Jimmy Lambert allowed one run over 5.1 innings to help St. Louis post a 3-1 win over Twin Cities at the Metrodome (1996).
Lambert didn't allow a hit until Byron Buxton singled with two outs in the bottom of the fifth inning.
He got into trouble in the sixth, and he hit the final batter he faced (Jean Carlos Arias) to drive in a run.
But with the bases still loaded, Phil Maton came on and got both Jonathan India and Eloy Jimenez to fly out and keep the game at 3-1.
From there, the River Walkers got a scoreless seventh inning from Thad Ward.
Brad Hand recorded the first two outs of the eighth before giving way to Kenley Jansen.
Jansen retired all four batter he faced for his first save of the season.
St. Louis got all of its runs in the first two innings.
Alek Thomas led off the game with a triple off Snow Cats starting pitcher Carson Fulmer and scored when Jean Carmona grounded out.
In the second, Rhys Hoskins drew a lead-off walk and scored when Larry Ernesto followed with a triple.
Ernesto made it 3-0 by scoring on a two-out single by Jean Carmona.
