League leaders and award winners

Austin Schlegl (West Driftwood) led the league in batting average (.325), RBIs (21), slugging (.552) and OPS (.959). He was also part of a four-way tie for league leaders in home runs (2). The 16th season for the 32-year-old, it was his best season since 2014, when he also led the league in a number of categories. In both years, he earned a Triple Crown. On the mound, Greg Vallee (West Driftwood) had the lowest ERA (1.31), had the most wins above replacement (1.1), the most strikeouts (47), and the lowest opponent’s average (.189). However, he was denied a Triple Crown season by Alberto Sanchez, who earned four wins to Vallee’s three.

Rookie of the Series went to East Driftwood’s Josh Harris. The 17-year-old second baseman played well over his 25 games. He finished the season with a .286 batting average and 4 RBI. His teammate, Bill Guenther, finished third in voting. Greg Vallee retained his Pitcher of the Series title after his excellent season. To the surprise of many, Vallee also won Series MVP. He finished three votes ahead of Austin Schlegel, who many assumed who take the MVP, as he did in 2014.

Greg Vallee also set a new series record for innings pitched with 41. The record had stood since 1963 when West Driftwood pitcher Tyler Harper pitched 40 innings. East Driftwood also set a new record for lowest amount of team strikeouts. West Driftwood only earned 211 Ks against the series winners.
