Tommy Crawford (1-1, 2.95 ERA) looked to end West Driftwood’s losing streak while Jorge Sanchez (0-1, 3.60 ERA) hoped to take East Driftwood one win closer to a series victory.

East Driftwood struck first, taking a 1-0 lead in the top of the second. West Driftwood responded in the bottom of the third as Rick Welch recorded a triple before being brought home by a Brian Swift blooping single. However, East Driftwood would reclaim the lead in the top of the fourth, beginning with Cristian Janicki scoring from second on a Josh Harris single. They added another run as Crawford tossed a putout past first base, allowing Tyler Rogers to score from second. That was followed by a passed ball that allowed Josh Harris to score. Jorge Sanchez then scored on a deep flyball before Chris Maddux relieved Crawford. However, Maddux picked up where Crawford left off as he gave up a single and a walk before. Devin Kaup hit a two-run double. Then runs didn’t stop as Cristian Janicki then delivered a two-run single. Chris Maddux finally forced a groundout to end the inning but it came at the cost of his well-being as he hobbled off the field in pain. It was the middle of the fourth and East Driftwood led 9-1. Nate Paige came in for Maddux, threw three pitches and strained his bicep, forcing him out of the game. His replacement, Riccardo Steenman, didn’t fare much better as he gave up a sacrifice bunt, a single, a walk and then a two-run single in less than twenty pitches. He managed to force a fielder’s choice before giving up another RBI single. He managed to earn a strikeout to end the inning with the score now at 12-1 East Driftwood. The score held until the top of the ninth, when East Driftwood added two more runs to their tally. West Driftwood got no runs back and suffered a humiliating defeat.
