The Rangers may be going for the sweep but this is a big mismatch that favors the Yankees.

Biittner put the Rangers on the board first with an RBI double in the second.

After three: Texas 1 New York 0.

The Rangers loaded the bases in the fourth but Broberg hit into the inning ending double play.

A throwing error led to a sac fly RBI for Swoboda that tied the game in the fifth. Broberg, however, ended the inning by setting Peterson down on strikes to record his 50th K on the season.

The Rangers got another bases loaded, one out situation in the sixth inning. Lenny Randle gave Texas the lead back with an RBI single. A Yankees error gave Texas another run.

After six: Texas 3 New York 1.

The Yankees had a runner on first and one out in the eighth when the Rangers pulled Broberg and brought in Horacio Pina.

Pina struck out pinch hitter Bernie Allen in the ninth to get his 20th K on the season. And, with two on, Pina struck out pinch hitter Johnny Callison to end the game.

Final score: Texas 3 New York 1.
