Tampa Bay Lightning (15-18-3) at Montreal Canadiens (20-14-2)

Montreal are home for 3 starting with the Lightning at the Bell Center today. Montreal are on a modest 4 game win streak but are facing the Lightning that have beat us twice so far this season. Both games were in Tampa and in September, the last game was 4-1 for the Lightning. Montreal will welcome back C Melvin Swiney to the line-up. He has been out since December 3rd.

Tampa Bay are currently 13th in the East with 33 points, they are currently 5 points out of the final playoff spot. Tampa has a 3-11-0 record on the road.

LW Gene Schuler leads the team with 10 goals this year. With 10 assists for 20 points in 36 games. The 31 year old is a great hitter and puck handler. It took Tampa just 17 seconds to open the scoring, LW Gene Schuler got his 11th to make it 1-0. Tampa makes it 2-0 at 16:12 when C Paul Bleecker gets his 8th of the season. The period ends 2-0 in favour of the Lightning but Montreal out shoots them 14 to 6.

Montreal gets on the board at 8:25 of the 2nd when LW Jiri Bohm gets his 2nd of the year on the PP. Its now 2-1 for Tampa. Thats how the period ends, the shots were 8 to 7 in the 2nd for Tampa.

The Habs and Lightning play it pretty tight in the 3rd but LD Brian Robertson scores on the empty net at 19:31 to make it 3-1 for the Lightning. The shots were 10 to 8 for Tampa in the 3rd.

LD Brian Robertson was named the 1st star. The Lightning player had a goal and 4 shots in 15:36 of ice time. The 29 year old Robertson now has 2 goals and 8 points in 37 games. In 80 career NHL games, he has 4 goals, 10 assists for 14 points with 26 PIMs and a +0 rating. He has also played 75 AHL games. He was traded by the Canucks on July 1st, 1982 to the Lightning.
