You can save them anywhere. Then when you go to import the schedule file (again, I recommend making a simple test league with the same structure for that) you will get a file selector modal window where you can navigate to wherever you downloaded the files.

If you are not sure how to do the import, hopefully these steps help. It is a little buried through several steps, which is reasonable though considering how infrequent this action is and how customizable the game is. Anyway, to do the import...
  • Go to League Settings
  • Choose the Options tab
  • At Schedule Settings, press "Edit League Schedule..."
  • Select "Actions" toward upper right
  • Under that tab choose "Import from file"
  • Find the file where it was saved
If you are not familiar, that "Actions" tab also has "Report: Grid" and "Report: Evaluation" options that give some stats/info on the schedule.

The files can be put into the OOTP Schedules folder, though that is never strictly necessary. Being in that folder allows for possible usage at creation of a league. That need not be a factor in your case of loading it once and presumably never needing to load again since allowing the same version with the teams randomized within the division year-to-year.
