Tonight, the Rangers try to complete the sweep of their three game home series against the California Angels. The Rangers have won three straight.

The Rangers placed SP Don Stanhouse on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 14, 1973.

In the bottom of the first, the Rangers loaded the bases with one out. Carty should have hit into the 6-4-3 but a throwing error by Valentine allowed Maddox to score instead. Johnson popped into the infield fly rule for the second out. Harrah grounded to short to end the inning.

In the top of the second, the Angels loaded the bases with two out. Stephenson grounded to the pitcher to retire the side.

In the bottom of the second, Madlock hit a two out two run homer. After a Burroughs single, Epstein hit a two run homer.

After three: Texas 5 California 0.

With two out in the bottom of the fourth, Tanana left the game with an arm injury. He was replaced by Steve D Barber.

After six: Texas 5 California 0.

In the bottom of the second, with a runner on second and two out, Barber left the game with a back injury. He was replaced by Dave Sells. He got Epstein to fly out to end the inning.

In the top of the eighth, Robinson hit a solo home run.

In the top of the ninth, the Angels loaded the bases with two out. Steve Foucault took the mound for the Rangers. Pinson flew out to center to end the game.

The two teams combined for 21 hits in the contest.
